Think Condi, think...

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/08/rice.blacks.state/index.html

Well gee Condi, why do you think this is? Could it be that the Republicans are not hiring a lot of minorities because they hate minorities? Could it be that you've been working for a group of people who keep you around only because you make them look diverse while secretly they hate you behind your back? Of course you are the freakin' Secretary of State, if you don't see enough blacks at the State Dept. perhaps you should HIRE SOME!

Recall the Governator...

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,419143,00.html

It's about time. He's been a disaster from the beginning. I really hope they're successful in recalling him. Maybe California can get a government that actually knows what it's doing.

Stupid...

http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory?id=5758376

Sure, why not? That's how we solve our disputes in the adult world, we just kidnap those who we disagree with and deliver them to a heavily biased court so they can be executed. Why not just shoot him in the street like a dog? Israel is not a responsible player on the world stage, they're way too much of a loose cannon. To even suggest this action, much less carry it out, shows a serious lack of intelligence. What charges will they bring him up on? Trying to develop a domestic energy industry? Having a non-traditional opinion on the Holocaust? He is wrong on the Holocaust but he has every right to hold as many seminars as he wants. It only serves to make him look like a dick and make people sympathetic for the Jews. If I were Israel I'd be encouraging him to do it. It's not like anyone's attending who just isn't sure on the matter, everyone there already denies the Holocaust happened. He's preaching to the choir. By doing what they're suggesting it will immediately make people infinitely more sympathetic to Ahmadinejad and will hurt Israel's standing among all the countries except America (The US would unfortunately still support Israel even if they preemptively nuked Iran).

Figures...

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26616212/

Big surprise, she was ripping off the people of Alaska for her own benefit. The more I learn about her the worse she looks.

Nice Try...

http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/inq-blinq/Ban_the_Sarah_Palins_Banned_Books_E-mails.html

We can talk about banning the Sarah Palin e-mails (which don't seem to be very widespread, I've heard nothing about them) when we get the Republicans on record in favor of banning the widespread, and racist, e-mails about Obama. I doubt whether these Sarah Palin e-mails even exist, but if they do they're not anywhere near as big a problem as the Obama ones. The Obama ones are exposing extreme racism among people who probably convinced themselves they weren't racist and they may just sway the election. I don't see the Palin e-mails doing that since anyone likely to be swayed by them isn't going to vote for her anyway.

Political Plagiarism...

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,419001,00.html

Hmm, I know I've heard this policy before but I'm not sure where it was...hmmm...oh right. Obama suggested this months ago. Funny how the Republicans criticize Obama every chance they get and then enact the exact same policies he's been suggesting. He should sue them for plagiarism.

Racists...

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26623540/

Typical. He's black and he has a Muslim sounding name so he must be a terrorist. This bullshit is why people don't sympathize with Israel. The sad thing is this is the kind of thing the Republicans are trying to get us to emulate.

Stick To Your Day Job...

http://www.time.com/time/arts/article/0,8599,1839500,00.html

You've got 535 people in Congress, 100 Senators and 435 Representatives. Now, [my wife] Gena and I went to the House chamber last year. They were debating a bill. Well, not debating — they were screaming at each other across the aisles. And I'm watching them and thinking, this looks like a grammar school class. Who do we hold accountable in the House of Representatives? If you blame one Congressmen for something, he blames Joe Blow over there. Well, how do we know? Let's reduce it down to one or two Congressmen per state. First of all, we'd save millions in salaries and secondly, now we'll know who to blame.

And here is where Chuck proves he knows nothing about the government. Let me break it down.

House of Representatives:
435 members
members allotted based on population (more power for larger states)
less deliberative body more closely in tune with the passions of the people because they're elected every 2 years.

Senate:
100 members
members allotted two per state regardless of population (much more power for smaller states)
more deliberative body, members elected every 6 years.

Congress is a compromise that was worked out by the Founding Fathers to balance the interests of the larger states with those of the smaller states. The smaller population states (mostly Republican states) benefit greatly from the present composition of the Senate. If the House were reduced to one or two members per state regardless of population it would put all the power in the hands of the small states completely disenfranchising the larger states. One person in New York would be infinitely less powerful than one person in Alaska. In addition, the electoral college would have to be changed because currently the composition of the electoral college is determined by the number of Congressmen and Senators each state has. If that were reconfigured to reflect the new composition of Congress, we would never see a Democratic President again and one person in Alaska's vote would become equal to hundreds or even thousands of residents in New York.

Get rid of our tax structure. That's what's killing our people: the income, state, capital gains, corporate, property and social security taxes. It's not right, and it's not the way it was intended in the beginning from our founding fathers. Implement a Fair Tax where we tax consumption.

This would lead to poverty on a horrible scale while ushering in a period of unimaginable wealth for those who are already rich. The gap between rich and poor would grow ever larger as poor people spend all their money on sales taxes. It would also usher in a new caste system where the rich can pass all their money to their offspring who will advance by virtue of their parents' wealth instead of their own talent.

I think you can learn from history. When I started reading, I got interested in the Barbary Wars, when extreme Muslim pirates were capturing our ships and holding them for ransom. Congress decided to negotiate with the Barbary pirates, and Tripoli started a war with us anyway. It was interesting reading about this situation where we dealt with extremists 200 years ago, and thinking about where we are now.

The Barbary Pirates attacked our ships because they were pirates, not because they were Muslims. We started a war with them to protect our interests and we won. We didn't invade Libya and occupy it for 100 years. Nor did we invade Ethiopia based on lies and then occupy that for a decade.

As an option. I'm not trying to cram it down people's throats. Give people an option, a choice, of what they want to do. We teach evolution in school. Why can't we give kids an alternative choice of a Bible curriculum and let them make up their own mind?

By teaching the bible in public schools it ceases being "an option" for those kids who aren't Christian. In a majority Christian school, which is almost all schools in this country, a child is going to realize that they have no choice in the matter. They will go along, and have their rights infringed, in order not to get beat up or penalized by the teacher.

That's a personal thing. It happens to millions of young kids today. That's because of our open society, where sex is not a big thing: "If it feels good, do it." These young kids take that to heart and wind up making a big mistake, just like Bristol did. But you cannot condemn her. It's a mistake she's going to have to live with, but that has nothing to do with Sarah Palin and her abilities as a leader.

Funny how it's only a personal thing if the person involved is a Republican. It's never a personal thing when the mother is a black woman in the inner-city. It wouldn't be a personal thing if Obama had a pregnant 17 year old daughter.

Idiots Who Don't Understand The Meaning of the Word Interventionist...

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/laland/2008/09/when-markets-ar.html

Huzza what?!?!?!

Things are getting worse. The Bush administration -- hardly a bunch of eager interventionists -- had no choice; it couldn't save these companies with jawboning and bluster about a bazooka full of cash; it had to take them over.

If the Bush Administration were any more interventionist they'd have invaded Moscow by now. They have intervened EVERYWHERE. They intervened in Iraq, Afghanistan, Georgia, etc... As for the economy, their entire policy has been intervention. I don't see how much more they could be doing, they've gone as far as they possibly could to prop up these corporations and make sure their millionaire stock holders get to keep their money.

Unlikely...

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,417646,00.html

So the Dems should praise Lieberman for stabbing his party in the back? Would the Republicans have praised a Republican Senator who got up at the DNC and repeated horrible lies about McCain in order to give the Dems a cover of bipartisanship? They strip people of their committee assignments for voting their conscience, imagine what they'd do to someone like Lieberman.

Maverick?...

Lies...

http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/09/06/mccain-camp-to-chastise-dems-for-discarding-american-flags/

This is such a bullshit lie and yet people will believe it. The reality is that some Republican who was lurking in the stadium after Obama's speech waited until everyone walked away for a minute and stole thousands of flags (someone should really look into criminal charges for that) and gave them to the Republicans so they could claim the Dems hated America. It's an absurd thing to even suggest and it just goes to prove McCain's lying when he says he never questioned Obama's patriotism.

If Only...

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,417601,00.html

Who wants a cold war? Well, the Heritage Foundation for one. They get a big hard on when the word war is mentioned. I think they probably have to leave the room when someone starts talking about War-ren G. Harding.

I would love it if our country had the moral high ground to denounce what Russia's doing, but we don't. We invaded Iraq for manufactured reasons before they invaded Georgia for manufactured reasons. We supported the illegal move of Kosovo leaving Serbia before they supported the illegal move of S. Ossetia and Abkhazia leaving Georgia. We have no room to speak. If we hadn't done what we did, it's entirely possible Russia wouldn't be doing what they're doing because if we had obeyed International Law, Russia wouldn't have a leg to stand on.

We're going to have a really hard time solving this problem because most of Europe is essentially being held hostage by Russia for the oil they need and the US, the only country with the will to do anything, is rendered impotent due to our hypocrisy.

Man, if only there was some point in history where we could look to see where we went wrong...oh, wait...there is. If we hadn't elected Bush and his fuckwit moron brigade all this could have been avoided (except maybe for the Kosovo thing because even the Dems were a bit pollyannish about that). Too bad nobody listened to those of us who foresaw this.

Fascists...

http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/9/4/95717/90720/674/586129

This is horrible! There couldn't be more of a difference between the DNC and the RNC. From what I've heard, the police at the DNC were respectful for the most part and any police that got out of line were removed quickly from the situation. At the RNC on the other hand, the police were committing acts of horrible violence against peaceful protesters. I'm sure this is at the direct order of Bush and Cheney and their fascist friends. They can't stand protest, even peaceful protest, because they hate people who are not like them. Something has to be done about this, this isn't America.

Fox Lies Again...

http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/09/05/top-7-myths-lies-and-untruths-about-sarah-palin/

This is some weak shit. Certainly not as bad as some of the things the Republicans and the media have been saying about the Obamas (he's a secret Muslim with designs on destroying the country, he doesn't say the Pledge of Allegiance because he hates America, etc...). Most of this stuff, if it's even been said at all, is being said by whackos on the fringe. The mainstream media, on the other hand, is spreading the lies about Obama which makes them much worse.

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has been subjected to an intense amount of media and public scrutiny since she was named as John McCain’s vice presidential pick one week ago.

That'll happen when you run for Vice President. What, did she expect them to ignore her? The fact that she was completely unknown could explain why the media needs to dig up some information on her.

Many of the attacks have come in the form of unconfirmed reports on the Internet.

And, of course, Fox has also been diligent in digging up and exposing unconfirmed reports on the internet about other people like...oh, I don't know...Barack Obama?

1) Palin “Joined a Secessionist Political Party”

Her husband was a member. She addressed their meeting. Imagine for a second if Michele Obama was a member of the SLA or the Black Panthers and Obama had addressed their meeting? Do you think Fox would be cool with that?

2) Palin Supported a “Nazi Sympathizer”

I've never heard anyone say that Pat Buchanan was a "Nazi sympathizer", though a case could probably be made. What they've said is that he's anti-Semitic. That's beyond debate as far as I'm concerned. He is anti-Semitic. If Obama so much as appeared on the same stage as Jimmy Carter the right-wing (and Fox) would have a hissy fit and Carter's not even a true anti-Semite.

3) Palin “Wants Creationism Taught in School”

One is not a maverick just because they favor teaching both creationism and evolution. It would be like teaching math and then teaching Bubba's special math along side it and telling kids that both have their merits. Creationism shouldn't be taught in public schools, any other opinion is extremism.

4) Palin “Was Nearly Recalled” While Mayor

Palin was almost recalled but as far as I know it was because she fired the librarian, not for firing the police chief (man, this woman loves to fire people). Just because the court found that she had a right to fire the librarian or the police chief doesn't make it right and certainly doesn't mean the people can't recall her if they want.

5) Palin “Opposes Sex Education”

I don't think anyone suggested she opposes all sex education in schools, abstinence only is after all technically sex education, though I wouldn't say it's very educational.

6) “This Picture Proves Palin is …”

The bikini gun photo was an obvious photoshop. I haven't seen any liberal bloggers use it for anything other than humor value. It's not like it's inaccurate though. She was a beauty pageant contestant and she likes to kill things with guns. I'd say it's a pretty good encapsulation of her personality.

7) Palin is the grandmother, and not the mother, of Trig Palin

This was directly caused by the cover-up of her daughter's pregnancy. It's not the fault of the bloggers that the truth was hidden from the media causing people to make incorrect guesses. Once the truth was revealed, this rumor stopped for the most part.

Oops, they can't even get this right. It's like running against the JV squad, and the JV squad may just win. Horrible. How can anyone claim that the Republicans are the party that supports the troops? Never mind the fact that the troops are overwhelmingly supporting Obama, now shit like this surfaces?

Wouldn't Surprise Me...

http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,1838305,00.html

Sadly, it wouldn't surprise me if this war was orchestrated to help McCain's campaign. The Republicans don't care about human lives, especially foreign lives. They figured they could get this war on the cheap, possibly embarrass Russia, and get their boy in the White House so they could start even more wars. I hope it doesn't work.

Double Standard...

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080904/ap_on_re_us/baby_death_microwave

All I have to say is, if she were a man she'd be headed to the chair right now. No question. Someone puts a baby in a microwave, and then tries to blame a little kid, that's pretty much the definition of a death penalty offense. She got off easy because she's a woman, plain and simple.

They're Way Too Busy to Bring This Up...

http://news.yahoo.com/s/mcclatchy/20080903/pl_mcclatchy/3035478

Now will the media, among their constant praise of Palin for essentially being a pretty woman, dare to mention this little nugget? I doubt it.

A List of Republican Lies...

A good rundown of the nonstop lies from last night.

The Same Old Republican Hate...

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080904/ap_on_el_pr/cvn_tv_palin_s_night

The media are idiots. That speech was nothing but one big attack ad on Obama with no actual substance. First off, she lied throughout the whole thing. Second, she offered no hint at how she might govern. I guess when you know you have nothing to offer, the only choice you have is to go negative. She's in the right company for it. The Dems spent their convention telling people exactly how they'd change the country. People actually worried that the Dems weren't attacking McCain enough among all the substance. The Republicans on the other hand have done nothing but attack. They've offered nothing in the way of a vision for the country because they have none. All they have is negativity and racism. It's sad that a once great party, the party of Teddy Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln, has fallen so far so fast.

It's Not Going To Work...

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26539124/

The reason minorities avoid the Republicans is because the Republicans make it clear that they hate minorities. They may come out every 4 years and pretend they love non-white people but their actions the other 3 years prove they're lying. Why would a black person vote for a party that opposed civil rights, invented the southern strategy, opposes affirmative action and wants to destroy the government services that are often the difference between life and death for the poor? Just because a few minorities have deluded themselves into believing they have any place in the Republican Party doesn't mean most minorities are fooled.

Liar...

Andrews is a horrible Congressman. He's a Democrat and yet he votes with Bush a lot. I always knew he'd go back on his word and run for his seat. That was never in doubt. He has no honor and he will do whatever he needs to do to keep the money flowing into his pockets just like the Republicans he loves so much. I was really hoping we'd have a real choice this year, that we could actually get a real Democrat, but I always knew that wasn't going to happen.

I'm Glad It's Over For Him...

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080904/ap_on_re_us/muslim_cleric_deportation

It seems all it takes anymore to be charged with terrorism is to be Muslim. The Dept. of Homeland Security is wasting serious time with all this pointless shit.

U.S. immigration authorities had sought to deport Qatanani on grounds that he failed to disclose on his green card application a prior arrest and conviction in Israel for being a member of Hamas — a group classified as a terrorist organization by the U.S. government.

Israel doesn't distinguish between Muslims either, he was probably just accused of being Hamas because he was walking down the street and looked Muslim.

He said he was not notified of the charges against him nor his conviction and that he was mentally and physically abused while in detention.

I'm shocked. Israel torturing people? Where do you think our government learned it from?

Riefkohl also noted that Qatanani has received support from U.S. law enforcement officials, including U.S. Attorney Christopher Christie. Christie was among several high-ranking law enforcement officials who attended a Ramadan fast-breaking celebration at the Paterson mosque.

Now, when a complete shill of the Bush Administration like Chris Christie is even willing to side with a Muslim you know the guy has a case. Of course, I'm sure Christie has some sort of political motivation (the guy's a freaking shill), at least it's led him to do something good for once.

What's Good For the Goose...

Funny, the Enquirer was the Republicans' favorite newspaper a few weeks ago when they were spreading rumors about John Edwards. All of a sudden they don't like them. Perhaps they realized that rumors go both ways. It's highly unlikely this is true, it is the Enquirer after all, but I hope this dogs them to the end. They deserve it for automatically believing the rumors about Edwards.

When Will They Learn?...

www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/02/rnc.log.cabin/index.html

Why would any gay person ever be a member of the Republican Party? Don't they understand that the Republicans would throw them all in prison, or worse, if they could? How many times do you have to hear the Republican leadership call for anti-gay laws before you get the message? I don't care how much they've convinced themselves that McCain and Palin are different, they're not. Palin is extremely anti-gay. McCain will do whatever it takes to become President and that means he will scrub the few pro-gay actions from his history. He will not be a friend of the gay community in the White House because he knows who his masters are. People need to realize that McCain is a blank slate. He held all kinds of moderate positions as recently as 2 years ago. All that has disappeared. He was against the tax cuts before he was for them. He was for the immigration bill, he even sponsored it, before he was against it. He called Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell agents of intolerance 8 years ago, now he's whoring himself out to their organizations for votes. There is nothing he won't compromise to get elected. Even his best friends should be wary of him.

Impeach Joe Lieberman...

www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/03/rnc.democrat.reaction/index.html

Joe Lieberman should immediately be kicked out of the Democratic caucus. I know it may cost us the Senate but I don't give a damn anymore. The man has NO scruples. He will say ANYTHING to get what he wants.

He promised the Dems that he wouldn't do this and yet he couldn't help himself. He's everything that people hate about politicians. He would sell out his own wife if he thought it would get him into the White House. He's blindly ambitious even for a politician.

He should at the very least lose every single one of his committee assignments. Maybe he can get the chairmanship of the bathroom cleaning committee. I don't care how long he's been in Congress. He's not a Democrat. His committee assignments and chairmanships are a privilege bestowed upon him by the Dems, they aren't a right. I'm sick of this shit from him. He spits in the Dems face 24/7 and yet they do nothing to him in return. There need to be consequences. He's no longer a Democrat and it's time we stopped pretending he is.

If his constituents have any brains among them they should immediately call for his recall. He was elected by a Democratic district to work with the Dems. Granted, they should have known better at the time, but how do they reconcile what he's doing now with the things he was saying at the time?

Don't Hold Your Breath...

www.time-blog.com/swampland/2008/09/double_standard.html

The media will never make this connection. Not only because they love McCain and Lieberman and the whole gang, but because the Wright issue was always more than a political issue. The media has a seriously racist streak that was revealed when they jumped on the Wright controversy. Sure, every single one of them has a Rabbi or a Priest or an Imam or whatever that's said the same or worse but this was a black preacher and that made it unforgivable. All these white media elites had no frame of reference when talking about Obama's church. They'd never been to a black church so they assumed this was unusual or beyond the pale.

It Just Keeps Coming...

Double Standard...

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/01/palin.evangelicals/index.html

Can you imagine the reaction if one of Obama's daughters were 17, pregnant and unmarried? (Of course Obama's daughters are much younger but just a hypothetical). How about Joe Biden's daughter? There's a double standard at work here. They're willing to forgive her pregnancy, like they were willing to forgive Larry Craig and Ted Haggard, because they need Sarah Palin. Anyone else would be thrown under the bus regardless of whether they had an abortion or not. The Catholics and the Protestants are very clear on their opinion of unwed mothers, and underage unwed mothers get even worse treatment. If Obama had a teenage daughter, and she got pregnant, she'd be called the worst names in the book. Obama would be accused of being a bad father, and Michelle would be absolutely destroyed by the same people who are now rallying behind Palin. The black community would be called to task for supposedly promoting promiscuity through rap music and absentee fathers (funny how girls far from the inner city still manage to get pregnant). Bottom line, they are falling behind Palin because they want her to give them what they want, not because they actually have any compassion for unwed mothers who choose to take the pregnancy to term.

Please, Let Him Ruin It For You...

abcnews.go.com/Blotter/Conventions/story?id=5707463&page=1

Yes, please, put Tom DeLay all over the Republican Convention. He really does, more than anyone else, exemplify the Republican Party's values.

Experience...

http://thepage.time.com/mccain-camp-response-to-obamas-remarks-on-palins-experience/

By every measure, Obama has more experience than Palin. That's just a fact. His campaign has more employees, as he stated. He's also got far more government experience. She wasn't even Governor of Alaska when this campaign started. She was still running her little bedroom community. When Obama was a standout Senator in Illinois, she wasn't even Mayor. She's already mired in controversy and the Dems are just getting started on her. Did McCain vet her at all? She can rest assured the Dems will. If in the span of less than a week we've already discovered a massive corruption investigation and the unwed pregnancy of her daughter, imagine what we'll find by November. Even if the McCain campaign can be believed, and this is really the extent of it, the report will be coming from the Alaska Legislature less than a week before the election, and it's not going to be good. The McCain campaign may just pull an October surprise on themselves if they're not careful.

Cry Babies...

http://thepage.time.com/carly-fiorina-statement-on-gov-palin-attacks/

Seriously, if you're going to run for VP you're going to have to expect someone to criticize you. Have they laid off Biden? Hell, they've said worse about Michelle Obama and she's not even running. This is all part of the Republicans' strategy of screaming every time anyone so much as mentions Palin's name with anything other than fawning praise. This is the whole reason they nominated her, they figured the Dems would be deathly afraid to criticize a working mother with 5 kids, especially given the manufactured controversy about sexism supposedly directed towards Hillary. I really hope this doesn't work. She has to realize that she's going to be questioned, and not everyone is going to like her. If she doesn't, how is she going to be an effective VP?

How Convenient For Them...

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/08/31/bush-cheney-to-skip-convention/

Yeah, I'm sure they're skipping the convention because of this. It can't be that everyone hates them and they've been looking for an excuse for weeks to avoid going. They realized immediately that it was a bad idea for them to be anywhere near McCain but they couldn't just bow out because of what what would suggest about the state of the Party. This hurricane gives them the perfect reason. It's certainly not any concern for New Orleans, they proved years ago how they feel about that city. I just hope they learned something from Katrina because otherwise the people of New Orleans are in for another round of shit.

Mindless Pandering to the Right-Wing...

http://news.yahoo.com/s/politico/20080831/pl_politico/13016

By tapping the anti-abortion and pro-gun Alaska governor just ahead of his convention, which is set to start here Monday, McCain hasn’t just won approval from a skeptical Republican base – he’s ignited a wave of elation and emotion that has led some grassroots activists to weep with joy.

Idiots. Everyone accuses Obama's supporters of being overly emotional but nobody cried when Obama chose Biden.

The media elite – as well as elite members of the GOP consulting community – have all but mocked Palin as a former smalltown mayor with zero Washington experience.

Because they actually know how to win and realize this is a shallow gimmick to snare the dumber contingent of Hillary supporters who are somehow still pissed off about Obama's nomination.

Not only is the 44-year-old governor opposed to abortion rights -- but she carried and gave birth to a child with Down syndrome earlier this year, a profound and powerful motivating force to both opponents of abortion rights and the parents and relatives of special needs children.

It's all well and good that she did this. It's also true that she's got a lot more money than the average parent of a special needs child. She doesn't have to choose between having a child with down's syndrome and feeding her other 4 children. This doesn't diminish the sacrifice that middle class parents with special needs children make nor does it diminish the choice some parents have to make when they realize they're about to have a special needs child and can't afford it.

Steve Duprey, a former New Hampshire GOP chairman and top McCain backer who hails from the moderate wing of the party, was also in the Twin Cities when the news broke.

“I was in the Rules Committee with about 150 people in the room. They had TVs set up and we took a break to watch the announcement. For a second after she came out, it was silent. Then there was a gasp and everybody stood up and started cheering and clapping. We stayed standing the whole speech.”

This woman is anything but moderate. She resides firmly in the Rush Limbaugh wing of the Republican Party. She's a constant guest on the most vile right-wing talk shows. A true member of the "moderate wing of the [Republican] party", if such a thing even still exists, wouldn't be excited about nominating a female version of Jesse Helms to the Vice Presidency. If anything this is a huge spit in the face to the moderate wing of the Republican Party since they were expecting a far more moderate choice like Tom Ridge or Joe Lieberman.

“There is an electricity going through the social conservative crowd right now; it’s unbelievable,” said James Muffett, head of Michigan’s Citizens for Traditional Values, who had met with McCain in the weeks leading up to his selection of a running mate. “Especially given all the set-ups and head fakes - it’s amazing. A lot of people were sure he was going to show his more moderate colors.”

Of course not, he knows his masters in the far right-wing own him. Rush Limbaugh essentially selected the VP candidate for the Republicans this cycle and McCain really didn't have any say in the matter.

“She's one of us,” wrote Michael Bane, a prominent Colorado-based gun enthusiast who has a show on the Outdoor Channel, on his blog. “FINALLY, we can get 100% behind the Republican ticket ... change we can believe in!”

As if the past Republican VPs (and Presidents) haven't been complete pro-gun zealots. Dick Cheney not only fired guns but he shot a man in the face, showing without a doubt he exhibits one of the main principles of the NRA: the dangerous and reckless operation of firearms. It's not like the NRA has been lost in the wilderness for decades without a Party. The Republicans pander to them as much as any other stupid right-wing constituency.

And then there is the contrast: “While [Barack Obama] wants to ban AR-15s; Palin shoots AR-15s, and apparently pretty well.”

Because everyone knows how important it is in hunting to have a gun that can cut your prey in half.

“Every shooter, every hunter, every gun owner, every competitor needs to understand that it is time to, in the words of Bruce Willis, ‘cowboy the 'f...' up.’ ”

Charming...

“Palin could play strong in the sporting states like Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania depending on how they use her,” he said. “Most pundits will underestimate her appeal in these key areas because they don't know her and they are unfamiliar with the sporting scene. But among sportsmen, authenticity counts and Palin's got that and then some.”

And, after all, that's what matters. Who cares if she's ready to lead the country? Who cares if she's qualified to have her finger on the button? She has a downs syndrome baby and she likes to kill things, hurray!

This just goes to show how dangerous the Republicans, and their right-wing masters, are to this country. It really doesn't matter to them that the Republicans have nominated the most shockingly unprepared VP in history. All that matters is that she hates the people they hate and that she likes to kill defenseless animals with high-powered assault rifles. What's wrong with the Republican Party? How out of step with normal American values can you get? They've gone from being wrong to being outright dangerous. No more are they just a slight annoyance, I really believe if McCain wins we may not have a country left 4 years from now. They are a dangerous cult whose only interest is gaining more power, the safety and security of this country never even registers on their radar.

Nobody Likes the Republicans...

http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/08/29/entertainment.conventions/index.html

So the Dems had dozens of celebrities and artists at their convention and the best the Republicans can get is Charlie Daniels. I mean, I love Devil Came Down to Georgia but he's not exactly an international superstar anymore. The rest of their "stars" are all Christian bands that probably have 4 fans. They can't even get the one celebrity, Schwarzenegger, who actually belongs to their little cult.

Honor Among Racists...

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/08/30/palin-booed

I guess the honeymoon between Hillary and the GOP is over. They only loved her when they were trying to screw up Obama's chances.

Palin appealed to the women in the crowd here in Pennsylvania with a political shout-out to Geraldine Ferraro, who preceded Palin as the first women to be tapped as a vice presidential candidate. The reference was met with polite applause.

Well of course they applauded for Ferraro, they recognize she's as racist as they are.
http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/08/30/rnc.protest/index.html

Funny, I don't recall anyone harassing the protesters at the DNC Convention. I guess the RNC wants to pretend everyone loves dear leader and his handpicked successor. When did America become Russia? Now, I normally hate anarchists, because they're far more about causing mayhem than actually changing anything, but they have a right to protest without the police trying to intimidate them.

The Republican Whitewash of Palin begins...

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/08/29/palin.bio/index.html

Talk about whitewashing. This story barely mentions her scandal and only briefly mentions her complete lack of experience (she makes Barack Obama look like Winston Churchill) at the very end. This is what the Republicans will do. They'll pretend like she's a perfect maverick who's never had any ethical problems and somehow became an expert on foreign policy while running a state with fewer people than most large cities. She's not a game changer. Suggesting that women will vote for her just because she's a woman is far more sexist than anything Obama's campaign ever said. This is a last minute act of desperation and will probably open up more than one rift within the Republican Party (Mittens and Pawlenty aren't exactly tickled pink that they were strung along for weeks just to be thrown aside for the mayor of some podunk town in Alaska). This makes Rush Limbaugh happy, which should give pause to any actual moderates in the Republican Party, but probably ticks off far more people than it delights.

Better Luck Next Time...

The fundies didn't get their torrential rains during Obama's speech. Anyone think they'll learn any lessons from this fact, or will they just keep on pretending their God cares about their petty revenge fantasies?

Bad Choice...

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/Vote2008/story?id=5684098&page=1

I really think this choice was a mistake. Women aren't going to automatically flock to an anti-choice candidate just because she has a uterus. This could end up backfiring on them. I certainly don't ever want to hear anything about Obama's experience ever again.

Damn Fox News Democrats...

http://foxforum.blogs.foxnews.com/2008/08/29/this-might-do-it-for-mccain/

Remind me again why we still call this woman a Democrat? First she revealed herself to be a racist during the primary, now she's shilling for McCain on Faux News? Perhaps if she joins Lieberman at the Republican Convention people will finally see she's not a Democrat.

Don't Blame the Messenger...

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/08/29/navarrette.obamaspeech/index.html

He explained it as "the idea that we are responsible for ourselves, but that we also rise and fall as one nation" and described it as blending "individual responsibility and mutual responsibility." Simply put: You have to do what you can for yourself, but that you also have to do for others.

There is the rub: If everyone were to adhere to the first part, there will be no need for the second. Besides, even if we buy the idea that, as Obama said, "I am my brother's keeper, I am my sister's keeper," there is still the question of whether government should do the keeping.

That's an absurd thing to say. Not everyone can accomplish everything they need for themselves, no matter how hard they try. Suggesting that everyone living below the poverty line is just not trying hard enough is insulting. People take the jobs they can take and there are always going to be some jobs that just don't pay enough. If there wasn't some sort of safety net for these people, and for those who find themselves unable to work for whatever reason, a lot of people would starve through no fault of their own.

I'm also keen on people not playing the victim, not feeling a sense of entitlement, and not fearing competition. And when you're struggling in a tough economy, you don't give up or lay blame or ask for a government bailout, you work harder.

In a country where there isn't 100% employment, there's always going to be people who can't find work. That's not their fault and it's not because of a lack of effort. It's just the way things are. Unless you want those people to starve to death, you're always going to need a government sponsored safety net.

Case in point: On this third anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, there are people in New Orleans who are still waiting for the federal government to rebuild that city. Good luck with that, folks.

The waters have long since receded and residents are no longer standing on rooftops holding signs that read: "Help save us!" But they might as well be.

That wasn't the fault of government. That was the fault of the Bush Administration. I sometimes wonder if this has been Bush's intention all along: screw things up so much and so often that people lose all faith in government. In reality, the Bush Administrations failings shouldn't turn one off all government any more than a bad experience at a fast food restaurant should turn one off all restaurants.

The same goes for the Democrats who convened in Denver. This is a party that maintains power by trying to convince people that our country is a dark place, devoid of opportunities, and that the answer is to elect more of them.

It just so happens that this country becomes a dark place after years of Republican control. The fact that Carter, Clinton and Obama have run in the face of horrible Republican incompetence isn't their fault. You shouldn't kill the messenger.

Now they're seeking a change in the White House, a change in policy, and a change in national priorities --even if they aren't ready to change their tune.

What? Should they act like Joe Lieberman and just pretend the last 8 years didn't happen? This country is in the middle of a disaster the likes of which we haven't seen in decades.

Bad Idea...

http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/08/21/caylee.mom.bond.ap/index.html?iref=topnews

They should not have allowed her to leave jail at least until she gave up where the girl is. What leverage do they have now? She'll probably flee the state. She has been dishonest from the beginning and there's good evidence she killed the girl. Her family is being uncooperative, her mother almost certainly knows where the girl/body is and refuses to help. They should put her back in jail immediately and possibly have her mother join her. Only when they admit what happened should bail even be considered. If the little girl's father had killed her and lies about it does anyone believe he'd be anywhere other than a jail cell rotting away? The government should stop treating female offenders differently from male offenders.

Elitist...

http://www.nbc10.com/politics/17253759/detail.html

Now who's the elitist in this race? It's always been absurd that the media has allowed McCain to say this about Obama, this just illustrates the truth. McCain has always been the elitist. He doesn't care about gas prices, he doesn't care about the mortgage crisis. He gets his allowance from his wife and he's happy in his dozen homes. Meanwhile the rest of us are not so lucky.

Get Over Yourselves...

Please, Don't Make Him VP....

http://www.washingtonindependent.com/view/stop-obama-bayh-08

I hate to repeat myself but Obama would be making a HUGE mistake putting Evan Bayh anywhere on his ticket. Making him VP will pretty much doom his chances of winning the election. One would think the Dems would have learned their lesson when Gore placed Lieberman on his ticket and lost. This guy is the definition of a Washington insider. He's a pro-corporate DLCer and he's salivating over Iran the way he was salivating over Iraq 6 years ago.

You just hope that we haven't soured an entire generation on the necessity, from time to time, of using force because Iraq has been such a debacle.

Yes, it would be truly horrible if Americans actually learned the lesson of this war, that war is not to be a first choice and should only be entered into cautiously with a good plan for victory.

That would be tragic, because Iran is a grave threat.

The only people who are suggesting we go to war with Iran are neo-cons in America and Israelis who want to get rid of their regional rival on the cheap. Nobody with a brain is suggesting this. Besides, Bayh said the same thing about Iraq so his credibility is nil.

They're everything we thought Iraq was but wasn't.

Bayh is hoping the people of America will let him have his pet war with Iran, despite the fact that he was wrong about Iraq and is wrong about Iran. Why should we believe them now when they were so spectacularly, and intentionally, wrong last time? He knows Iran is not a threat to the US, just as he knew Iraq wasn't a threat, but his corporate paymasters need their money so he's out there again trying to get Americans killed so the CEO of Boeing can buy another yacht.

They are seeking nuclear weapons,

Fool us once shame on you...

they do support terrorists,

fool us twice shame on us.

they have threatened to destroy Israel,

They have a legitimate beef with Israel. They're not stupid enough to try anything against Israel. Even if they did, Israel is more than capable of defending itself. Why should we waste money and lives just so Israel can keep from getting its hands dirty?

and they've threatened us, too.

Bullshit. They can't do a goddamn thing to us. The worst they could do is launch a small attack against our troops in Iraq and if we'd get the hell out of there that wouldn't be a problem either.

Might Be Time to Cut Your Vacation Short...

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/presidentbush/2008/08/condi-tone-deaf.html

Thanks so much, idiots...

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/08/12/dem.ad/index.html

All you Clinton supporters, this is what you were voting for. The Clintons are a sad caricature of their former selves. The power was obviously way too much for them and they lost their minds. I think the Dems should be thanking their lucky stars Edwards and Clinton dropped out of this race. They would have been disasters in November. We'd be watching them implode right in front of us and dreading the elections.

No Justice In the Justice Dept...

http://abcnews.go.com/TheLaw/story?id=5565214&page=1

What a surprise, a Bush Attorney General refusing to prosecute serious crimes committed by members of the administration. Perhaps this was something Congress should have foreseen back when they were confirming him instead of just taking his word that he'd enforce the law. After they were lied to twice by past AGs, they probably should have sought more proof than that.

For comparison, Janet Reno appointed a Special Prosecutor to investigate the President himself. That Special Prosecutor commenced years of pointless investigations against Clinton. We can't even get Bush's Attorney General to start investigations against ANYONE.

Clinton Surrogates Won't Go Away...

Really, Howard? You're going to start pulling this shit now, huh? Ass.

You lost damnit, get over it. If these self-interested morons don't swallow their egos and get behind Obama they're going to be to blame for 4 more years of Bush.

You wouldn't have won even if Edwards did drop out before Iowa. I can't see Edwards' idealistic, change-oriented voters going for the Iron Lady Hillary. She's as anti-change as any candidate our side of the aisle.

Perhaps We Should Have Thought of This...

http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/europe/08/09/georgia.ossetia/index.html

This is a sucky situation. Unfortunately, a not too small amount of the blame for all this can be placed directly at our feet. We started all this by allowing Kosovo to unilaterally declare independence from Serbia. We can hardly blame the Ossetians for declaring independence, or the Russians for providing them military support, when we did the same thing in Kosovo. It seems childish political oneupmanship (flipping off Russia by helping the Kosovars screw Russia's friend) is more important to the Bush Administration than human lives. I hope all those who will now die can forgive us for our brain dead foreign policy.

Self-Interested Lies...

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,399041,00.html

Why does anybody believe a thing this guy says? It says in his bio who he is. That's all you need to know to know he's full of crap. He represents the "government in exile" of Iran. He's going to say whatever it takes to get the current regime out of power so he can get himself in power. If it means millions of his countrymen dead in an unnecessary war with the US or Israel, I guess that's acceptable to him. The guy's probably a spy for Israel. Seriously, he's the Ahmed Chalabi of Iran, making up any excuse to try to convince us to attack. Did this administration learn nothing from Iraq?

http://www.courierpostonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080807/NEWS01/80807030

PETA will never enjoy widespread support while it makes commercials like this. Comparing the brutal murder and butchering of an innocent man to the consumption of meat is absurd and only serves to make meat eaters less likely to support PETA's aims. Why should I support their efforts to ease the suffering of the animals raised for food when they continue to compare me to a brutal murderer?

Just Say No to Bayh...

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/08/obama-and-bayh.html

Shut Up Already Bill...

http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/08/06/martin.billclinton/index.html

Bill Clinton needs to get over himself. He absurdly believed he'd always be the king of the Democrats no matter who succeeded him as President. Now that he's not that important, he's making a huge ass of himself. If he stops now, he may still be remembered well in Democratic circles. Otherwise, he's going to go down as another Jimmy Carter (even most Dems don't dare praise Carter for anything political).

BTW, what he said was racist. There's no way around it. The best thing he can do is stop mentioning it every chance he gets and hope people forget.

Going Too Far...

http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/08/05/former-presidential-candidate-urges-crowd-to-stalk-federal-prosecutor/

Lovely. Just the behavior we expect from Presidential candidates. I fully agree that Al-Arian got a raw deal. He was caught up in the hysteria that suggests that all Palestinians are terrorists and must be sending money to Palestine to fight Israel. I still wouldn't be out there suggesting anybody attack a federal prosecutor. That's a good way to get thrown in jail.

Religious Freedom Goes Both Ways...

http://www.snopes.com/politics/religion/tyson.asp

Somebody wanna explain to me why this is even an issue? More than half the employees at the plant are Muslim, so they naturally wanted a Muslim holiday off. Even though Christians are in the minority, they didn't even take a Christian holiday off the list, they took a secular holiday. They should have taken Christmas off the list. When Christians are in the majority in a workplace, Muslims get no paid religious holidays. It would be only fair if the reverse were also true. Either way, the union was given the choice of 8 holidays and they made a decision based on the wishes of their membership. This just proves that conservatives and Christians have a knee jerk reaction whenever they hear the word "Muslim" and completely lose their minds.

Now I wonder why a guy who reads books by Bill O'Reilly and Michael Weiner Savage would suddenly go off and murder a bunch of liberals. It's not like those two advocate murder of liberals...oh wait...they do. This kind of violent rhetoric is unfortunately all too common in conservative circles.

This bastard expected to die in a blaze of glory when the cops arrived. He didn't realize the people in the church were more than able to deal with his kind. He's going to wish he had died in that church. Somehow I don't think he's going to enjoy spending the rest of his miserable life in jail.

http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/07/29/shooting.witness/index.html

What jumps out at me is the bravery shown by the people there. Conservatives always claim liberals are cowards and yet these were some of the most liberal people there are. They showed a lot more bravery than most conservatives. I doubt Bill O'Reilly would have stood between a shooter and his children or family. He'd be the first under the table or out the door.

Yet another example of the White House using the power of the government to make Obama look bad. I have no doubt that McCain's campaign was in on this. The Pentagon has become a political arm of the Republican Party just like the Justice Dept. and all the others. There is no shame left in this Administration. Everything they do is for political reasons. First they tell him at the last minute that he can't come and then they criticize him for canceling at the last minute. I really hope people don't buy this crap like they've bought every other lie told by the McCain campaign and the Bush Administration.
http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,1826161,00.html

Gee, I wonder why the countries of the South America would run to Iran and Russia for alliances? Maybe if we didn't treat their people like children, and didn't try to kill their leaders when they elect people we don't like, they'd trust us and wouldn't need to beef up their militaries to keep safe.

Without War, What Would They Do For Fun?...

http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,1826310,00.html

They really want their war. They've been spoiled by our willingness to wage their wars for them. Up until now, Israel has been able to destroy its enemies with minimal personal risk. Now it seems they may have to go it alone if they decide to start another unnecessary war to increase the size of their empire in the Middle East.

Israeli officials have recognized that a U.S. air strike on Iranian nuclear sites is increasingly unlikely in the waning days of the Bush Administration.

Good, it would be disgusting to leave President Obama with another stupid war.

So dismayed were the Israelis by the latest U.S. moves, one military source told TIME, that Prime Minister Ehud Olmert wrote to Bush complaining that Israel should have been forewarned about the White House's abrupt change of course toward Iran.

Why should we tell them anything? They seem to think they run our country.

A top former officer from Mossad (the Israeli equivalent of the CIA) told TIME that Israel is mindful that an air strike on Iran would jolt the U.S. presidential election — probably rebounding badly on Republican contender Senator John McCain. Sources say that Israel sees a narrow "window of opportunity" for military action opening up between November and the swearing-in of the new American President next January. "No Israel leader wants to be blamed for destroying the Republican chances," says the former Mossad officer.

Yes, heaven forbid they hurt their buddies in the Republican Party. They know the only way they'll get their war in Iran without having to lift a finger and actually pay for it is if McCain wins. Instead they'll attack after the election, handing the new President a huge mess which he'll have to address. Perhaps the best course of action if this were to occur is to just step back, make it clear we had nothing to do with it, and let the bully get bitch slapped by Iran.

Whatever the real prospects for military action, in the game of rhetorical brinksmanship, Israel has matched every hotheaded statement from Ahmadinejad with threats of its own. The Israeli press often compares Iran's bellicose, Holocaust-denying leader to Hitler.

Please, they compare everyone they disagree with to Hitler. They compared Saddam Hussein to Hitler. They probably compare Obama to Hitler. You'd think people who actually suffered under Hitler would remember a bit about what he did. Let me know when Ahmadinejad starts killing millions of people, then perhaps you could compare him to Hitler. At least Hussein killed some people, still not nearly as many as Hitler. The ironic thing is that they get bent out of shape when anyone else makes light of Hitler and yet they do it themselves by comparing every tinpot dictator to him.

The danger remains in this high-stakes game of brinksmanship that either Israel or Iran could push the other too far. But the Bush Administration's sudden overture toward Iran, and its moves toward engaging it diplomatically in search of a solution to the nuclear impasse, make it more likely that Israel will follow Washington's lead rather than striking out on its own.

Never underestimate the overwhelming desire among the Israeli government, and the Bush Administration, for war. If they decide to forgo it it's not because they don't want war, it's because they decided they might actually pay a price for once.

Who Knew John Stossel Was Still Around...

http://abcnews.go.com/Business/Stossel/story?id=5444494&page=1

Wow, I'm shocked, I'd have never thought John Stossel would come out in favor of discrimination. He is nothing but a corporate shill. There is nothing redeeming about that man. His only concern seems to be increased profits for his corporate paymasters. He claims to be a consumer advocate but again and again he takes the side of industry and actually hurts consumers by advocating extreme right-wing positions that benefit big business and hurt everyone else. The fact that ABC still identifies him as a consumer advocate, and not a right-wing pundit who is a paid advocate for industry, speaks volumes about the state of "news" in this country. Stossel is in no way shape or form a journalist and yet he's treated as one.

Roger Pilon, vice president of legal affairs for the libertarian Cato Institute, thinks that businesses just need to do what's best for them in order to stay afloat.

"People have to be free to run their own businesses because if they're not, they could find themselves going out of business in the blink of an eye," Pilon said.

Yeah, sure, pollute that river and kill thousands of people. After all, all that matters is the CEO's $100 million paycheck and the stockholders' huge dividend payment. To hell with all those who will suffer, if they wanted to live they should have been CEOs.

Why not the boss? It's the boss's money. Give me a break.

Evidently, people not wanting to lose their jobs and livelihoods after 30 years of work really gets under poor John's skin. I guess when you make millions shilling for billionaires it makes one thin skinned.

Looks like Novak knowingly fled the scene of an accident and only returned when he found out there was a witness. What a lovely guy. No wonder they call him the Prince of Darkness.

Most Politicians Wish They Had Obama's Jewish Problem...

http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/blogspot/bRuz/~3/342551692/2008_07_20_archive.html

But Obama totally still has a Jewish problem...

Lieberman is such an ass that everyone hates his guts. This may actually be the thing to unite the country, a universal hatred of Joe.

Sheep Always Come Around in the End...

http://pandagon.net/index.php/site/feeling_left_out_of_the_game_dobson_finally_sucks_it_up_for_mccain/

I knew Dobson would eventually comply with his masters' wishes and endorse McCain. He knows which party pays his bills. At the end of the day, the conservatives and evangelicals who swore up and down they'd never vote for McCain will vote for him. Not because they believe in him in particular but because they're all sheep.

Liars, all of them liars...

http://pandagon.net/index.php/site/barack_obama_was_made_from_clay_and_the_saliva_of_the_gods/

I agree that it's probably best that the right-wingers are concerning themselves with pointless wanking and conspiracy mongering instead of actually addressing substantive issues. Everyone with half a brain knows that Obama was born in America, if he wasn't I'm sure this information would have been discovered long ago by much smarter people who don't spend all day in front of a computer in their pajamas.

As for their "expert", I am loathe to even believe he's a forensic expert since we do after all have only their word on this fact. Even if he is somehow employed at a facility that performs forensic testing (perhaps he's the janitor), it doesn't make him a saint or above reproach. Anybody can be gotten to. I have no doubt that a right-wing true believer would fake all sorts of things to help McCain win. Besides, I doubt too many people reading that blog are expert enough to refute his claims. I know my eyes glossed over a few paragraphs in. He could have reproduced chapter 10 from To Kill a Mockingbird in the middle there and no one would have known.

It's typical right-wing behavior. They trot out someone who they claim is an expert on something. That person then makes all kinds of statements of supposed fact that sail right over the heads of the majority of the readers in order to claim that something untoward is going on. They rely on the fact that their readership is by and large way too dumb to even begin to understand what's being said and can be counted on to just swallow whatever they're told since they've been taught from youth to buckle to authority in all cases.

This kind of shit, pointless as it is, really does get under my skin though. Do they honestly think they're the only people in the world with brains? What do they think McCain's people are doing (or Hillary's people for that matter)? Do they think there's some sort of huge conspiracy among the Republican establishment to ignore something that, if true, would be a bombshell that would blow this entire election apart? If there was a shred of truth to this bullshit the Republicans would be all over it. After all, they've made a big deal out of far less. There is no reason to believe that McCain's people would ignore something that would guarantee him the Presidency.

Hillary's people also don't seem like the type who would have ignored this for all those months she refused to leave the race. They threw everything but the kitchen sink at Barack. They would have loved to have something like this in April or May. It seems awful weird that they would completely forget to bring it up.

Everyone who bought the "Rathergate" bull should take a lesson from this one. Everyone in the right-wing is batshit insane. There is nothing off limits to them. They would lie about their own grandmother if it would get Republicans elected. Nothing they say can be believed, in fact if you hear them say something it's safe to assume it's a lie. I think a lot of people owe Dan Rather a huge apology. I wouldn't believe these psychos if they told me the roof was on fire and I smelled smoke.

Bad Idea...

http://pandagon.net/index.php/site/elizabeth_dole_proposes_naming_aids_bill_after_homophobe_jesse_helms/

Next we could name a civil rights law after Strom Thurmond. Perhaps name a journalism school after Tony Snow.

And This is His Strong Suit...

http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/07/15/1200003.aspx

Remember what happened the last time we elected a President who couldn't name the countries of the world or their leaders...

McCain has no excuse. At least Bush could point to his relatively insignificant experience as Governor of Texas. McCain claims foreign policy is his strong suit. If he can't even remember that Czechoslovakia was broken up into two separate nations in the 90s, why should we trust him to be President? After all, he was in the Senate when this happened, you'd think he'd remember.

Sexist jerk...

http://thinkprogress.org/2008/07/15/mccain-finds-rape-hilarious/

Are the PUMA's still going to vote for this guy just to spite Obama? Who wants to guess how often this will be mentioned on the news?

Chuck Norris doesn't know anything about government...

http://whiskeyfire.typepad.com/whiskey_fire/2008/07/dream-kid-the-s.html

Can we all agree that Chuck Norris should shut the hell up?

I believe just as we have one governor per state, we should consider reducing Congress to one representative and two senators per state (the minimum the Constitution requires). If one representative works for Alaska, Delaware, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont and Wyoming, why can't it work for the rest of the states? Here's a movie we all can star in: "Honey, I Shrunk the Congress!"

Sure, because it's not enough that the less populated, conservative states have disproportionate representation in the Senate, they must also have unfair power in the House. Because this country will be so much better when the same number of Representatives represent the 626,932 people of Alaska as represent the 36,553,215 people who live in California. It's bad enough the Senate works this way but that was part of a compromise which gave us the House. If we destroy the House, we end up with the tyranny of the small states that we were trying to avoid.

Mind Your Own Business Part II...

http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/europe/07/12/pope.anglican.ap/index.html

I'm sure that just fills their hearts with gladness. It's like having Jack Kevorkian wish you a speedy recovery.

Benedict said he did not want to "interfere" in the debate.

Then what was all that crap earlier in the week about how Jesus only loved men and female bishops were an affront to God? Huh you Prada wearing bastard?

Good Riddance to Bad Garbage Part II...

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/07/12/obit.snow/index.html

Cue the whitewashed, fawning obits that completely omit the horrible things he's done.

Man, these conservatives are dropping like flies lately, aren't they?

Stupid Conservatives, Crazy No Matter Where You Are...

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080710/pl_nm/germany_obama_dc

This is absurd. If McCain wanted to give a speech in Germany, Merkel would be falling over herself to say yes. This is politics plain and simple. She's a right-wing fascist and she knows the Republicans are her party in Washington.

Silly Superstition...

Ok, seriously, it's just a stupid piece of bread. Regardless of what supernatural powers you ascribe to it, it's not worth killing someone over.

You Were Right the First Time...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7495754.stm

How ironic that the first time the Bush Administration says something truthful they end up apologizing for it. Everything they said was true, and was sourced from a legitimate source of such information. The only reason Berlusconi was elected the first time is because he owns all the media in Italy. Despite this, his reign was so horrible that he actually lost to the more liberal party. The only way he was able to claw his corrupt way back into power was by launching an all out media assault on his opponent, using his complete stranglehold on the media, in conjunction with the Catholic Church. I give him a few years before the people of Italy remember why they hate him so much and kick his ass to the curb.

Mind Your Own Business..

http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/europe/07/08/women.bishops/index.html

How nice of them to jump in where they have no business going. I'm sure the Anglicans are devastated that the Vatican, a hyper corrupt irrelevant body which they wisely left hundreds of years ago, disapproves of their personal decision not to treat their female ministers as second class citizens.

The move by the Anglican Church's General Synod "is a rift to the apostolic tradition" of ordaining only men as bishops, the Vatican said in a statement, and is another obstacle to reconciliation between Anglicans and Roman Catholics.

Evidently they don't interpret the Bible in a way that needlessly excludes half the population (and many of the most active church members).

The catholic church has never really been interested in reconciliation with anyone. That would require both sides to make sacrifices and that's never been their intention. They want all other churches to come together, declare they were wrong, and bow before the Pope.

Some traditionalists have threatened to abandon the Anglican Church for the Roman Catholic Church if women become bishops. Several hundred Anglican priests made that move when women were first ordained 16 years ago.

You gotta do what you gotta do. If you bow down to extremists they're always going to keep making demands. Better to lose them now than wait until you've given up half the church and they leave anyway.

David Holding, a traditionalist church member, said he does not object to female bishops, but "there must be a proper provision made for those who can't go along with it."

You can't start creating situations in any organization where people can circumvent the hierarchy just because they want to. What's to prevent racists from refusing to obey a black bishop? Creating special classes of bishop for women, which are essentially inferior to all other bishops, is worse than refusing to ordain women bishops at all. Who is going to respect a female bishop who has no authority over her churches?

Your Band Sucks...

I knew there was something I hated about this guy. Just another stuck up moron who wears his Bush worship like a badge of honor, pretending that everyone else is too stupid to see how great the Republicans and their war are.

Silence...

Joe Lieberman's BFF makes another inexcusable comment that the media will never mention.
